Contact me about therapy

  • I practice within a cognitive-behavioural framework. This suggests that your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact to maintain psychological disorders. By making improvements in one or more of these components, we expect to see a reduction in your symptoms.

To make this happen, I draw from techniques outlined by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and systems therapy.

Importantly, all these techniques are evidence-based and scientifically grounded. I believe that sound psychological science always underlies best practice.

  • I specialise in treating psychological problems in adults.

Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, like obsessive-compulsive disorder and tic disorders.

Anxiety disorders, like panic disorder, specific phobia, generalised anxiety disorder, and social anxiety disorder.

Mood disorders, like major depressive disorder.

Trauma-related disorders, like post-traumatic stress disorder.

Not everyone fits nicely into these categories. Our mental health experience differs person to person and the therapy can be tailored to your specific goals and needs. Please contact me to see if I am best suited to helping you.

  • My therapy room (in-person or Telehealth) is a warm and safe place that is free of judgement. I like mixing humour and genuine curiosity into my therapeutic style. My jokes might not land most of the time, but in this area I believe in quantity over quality.

In our first session together, I will try to understand what caused and currently maintains your difficulties. This involves conducting a short psychological interview and getting you to fill out some questionnaires. From there, we will develop a shared understanding of your situation that will inform a treatment plan.

The therapy process is highly collaborative. While I am the expert with all the fancy techniques, these will ultimately fail without your expertise, which is the important knowledge you have about your lived experience.

Throughout therapy, I will consistently check-in with you to see if what we are doing is working and determine if any modifications to the treatment plan are needed. You always decide the length of therapy.
